School Of Psychology Phd Studentship for the students of UK/EU and applications are open until 17th January 2014. University of Sussex is offering PhD studentship in the field of Psychology for September 2014. Full details:
‣ This project examines two complementary roles that emotion can play in text comprehension, both of which are under-researched.
‣ First, in order to derive a coherent overall representation of a text, it is crucial to understand the emotions experienced by the characters and the impact of those emotions on the characters’ behaviour.
‣ These emotions are sometimes described explicitly, but often have to be inferred from other cues in the text.
‣ Second, readers both bring emotions to reading a text and experience emotions as a result of reading the text.
‣ These emotions can be related, sometimes indirectly, to the emotions experienced by the text characters and comprise one factor that determine readers’ emotional engagement with the text.
‣ There are considerable individual differences in such emotional engagement, including sex differences.
