Mitacs Globalink Research Internships for Undergraduates in Canada, and the call for 2018 Globalink Research Internship faculty submissions will open on April 19, 2017. Mitacs Globalink is offering Research Internships for undergraduate students from around the world. Internships are provided to experience Canada as a leading destination for research & innovation. Both faculty and students must meet various criteria in order to be eligible to participate in a Globalink Research Internship. Faculty members at eligible institutions in Canada, who are interested in hosting an international undergraduate student for a 12 week internship under their supervision, are invited to submit a research-based project. Eligible students must be enrolled full time in an undergraduate or dual degree granting program at an accredited and eligible university in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Vietnam. Globalink Research Interns network with professors, government representatives, and business leaders, and develop their skills in a variety of professional development workshops.

 Mitacs Globalink Research Internships invite undergraduate students from around the world to experience Canada as a leading destination for research & innovation.

Eligibility

In order to be considered for  Mitacs Globalink Research Internships, you must meet all the following criteria:

‣ Be at least 18 years of age

‣  Be enrolled in full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/Master’s programs

‣ Have a minimum of one semester and a maximum of three semesters remaining in their program as of September 2017.

‣ Meet the grade requirements for their country of study:Australia: 75 percent (“distinction” or equivalent)Brazil: 8/10 and ENEM score of at least 600 in an exam from 2009 or onwardChina: 3.5/4France: 12/20Germany: 2.9/6India: 8/10Mexico: 80%8.5/10 for students from SEP-funded universitiesApplicants in Mexico must apply to SEP by August 31, 2016. Saudi Arabia: 80%Tunisia: 12/20

‣ Must be proficient in one of Canada’s official languages (English and/or French)


‣ Must be proficient in the language of the project (English and/or French).


‣ Must be available to start the internship between May 1st and June 30th, for 12 weeks from the internship start date. and returning to their country of study between July 31 and September 30, 2017.

‣ Possess a valid passport from their home country that is valid until at least January 2018.

‣ Must be available to work for 40 hours a week.


‣ Must provide a rational to receive a Globalink Research Internship.

Student applicants must provide in their application:

  • An official transcript from the home university, in English. If you cannot obtain an English transcript, you must submit a translated and notarized copy before the application deadline
  • At least one letter of reference from a professor or research supervisor
  • A CV detailing research experience

When applying, students must select between three and seven projects from at least three Canadian provinces.
