Scholarship Duration:  USI will award one-off study grants.

Scholarship covers: For the 2016-17 academic year, the Foundation for the Lugano Faculties of USI will award a total of 60 one-off study grants of the amount of 4’000 CHF each. The grant is awarded in the form of a deduction of the tuition fee and cannot be exchanged for cash. If the recipient decides not to register at USI, he/she may not, under any circumstances, ask for a deposit in the amount of CHF 4’000. Likewise, if the student recipient of the grant withdraws after the first semester, he/she may not request the amount of the grant. The grant cannot be renewed.

Description

For the 2016/17 academic year, the Foundation for the Lugano Faculties of USI will award a total of 60 Master Study Grants for International Students , one-off study grants of the amount of 4’000 CHF each.

The merit based grants are given to first year students admitted to a USI Master program starting in September 2016.

The grant is awarded in the form of a deduction of the tuition fee and cannot be exchanged for cash. If the recipient decides not to register at USI, he/she may not, under any circumstances, ask for a deposit in the amount of CHF 4’000.

Likewise, if the student recipient of the grant withdraws after the first semester, he/she may not request the amount of the grant.

Eligibility

In order to be considered for Master Study Grants for International Students you must meet all the following criteria:

‣ The applicant must have obtained the Bachelor degree (all examinations taken and thesis defended) by July 31st, 2016 with a cumulative grade point average of at least 80/100.


‣ Applicants must have been admitted to the first year of a USI Master degree beginning in September 2016. Applications from students enrolled in a USI Master before Sept 1st, 2016 will not be considered.

Selection Criteria for Master Study Grants for International Students

‣ The merit based grants are given to first year students admitted to a USI Master program starting in September 2016.

‣ Merit is determined by the results of the academic degree that gives access to the Master program (usually the Bachelor’s).

Notification:

‣ All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their request by August 15th, 2016.

Scholarship Application Method

‣ Applications must be sent by e-mail to: borsestudio-at-usi.ch/studygrants-at-usi.ch.

‣ Scholarship Applications are due on July 31st, 2016.

ApplicatioForm

The application package, to be sent in paper form, will include:

  • The completed application formPhotocopy of past diplomas (Bachelor, licentiate, four-year degree, maturity);
  • Official transcript of results of university examinations;
  • Certified translation of any diplomas written in a language other than Italian, German, French, English, or Spanish;
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Personal letter of motivation drafted by the candidate;
  • Official certification of proficiency in English or Italian;
  • Photocopy of an identity card or other document;
  • Photocopy of residence permit for foreign nationals already domiciled in Switzerland.
