Beneficiaries(Target Groups): Scholarship is targeted for International (Visiting Fellowships) German (within Heidelberg University for Senior Fellowships and Junior Fellowships).

Benefits(Value/ Inclusions):

Award No: 3 Visiting Fellowships are available to scholars worldwide, 3 Senior Fellowships are available to scholars from within Heidelberg University and 2 Junior Fellowships are available to postdocs from within Heidelberg University.

Scholarship Duration: Fellows can choose to be in residence in Heidelberg for a period ranging from between six months to two academic years.

Scholarship covers: Fellows benefit from the finest research facilities, the stimulating environment of a multi-disciplinary and international community of first-rate scholars, and an excellent digital humanities unit.
All Fellows will be offered the support of research assistance and library services. Senior Fellows will receive funds for the partial reduction of their teaching load (equivalent to 1/2 “Lehrstuhlvertretung”). Visiting Fellows will receive a stipend to make up for losses in (sabbatical) salary and for additional costs incurred by their stay in Germany. Junior Fellows will receive a budget to facilitate their research.

Description

The Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) is an Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Heidelberg. Building on the structures established by the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context,” it is open to scholars especially in the humanities and the social sciences.

Founded in April 2013, the Institute assembles scholars from all over the world to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue and to enhance their understanding of transcultural processes. The institute offers an M.A. and a Doctoral Programme in Transcultural Studies.

Eligibility

The program is open to senior and junior scholars (postdocs) from Heidelberg or elsewhere who are interested to pursue research in transcultural studies.

The Heidelberg Centre Institute assembles scholars from all over the world to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue and to enhance their understanding of transcultural processes.

Eligibility criteria:

Fellowships awarded to scholars employed within or outside the University who have demostrated outstanding scholarly achievement and exhibit unusual intellectual promise.

Scholarship Application Method

The mode of applying is by email.

The application (in German or English) Consists of two (2) items and should be submitted in electronic format (single PDF file):

1 Curriculum vitae;

2 Research proposal (maximum of 1500 words).

Scholarship Applications are due by 01 October 2013.
