Description

The new Frost Scholarship Programme funds current students from the State University System of Florida (SUSF) to study one-year, full-time Master’s courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (‘STEM’ subjects) at the University of Oxford.

The Programme is supported by the generosity of the Phillip and Patricia Frost Philanthropic Foundation.

Over the next five years, the Frost Scholarship Programme will offer ten scholarships each year.

The first ten scholars will begin their studies in October 2014.

Frost Scholars will also take part in an exclusive week-long orientation programme at one of Oxford’s oldest colleges, Exeter College, to introduce them to academic life at Oxford just before the start of their course.

Eligibility

Have what it takes to avail Frost Scholarship Programme?

Applicants must be ordinarily resident in the state of Florida in the USA.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and potential.

The programme aims to have one graduate from each of the SUSF universities represented in each annual cohort of scholars and preference shall be given to applicants in order to achieve this aim.

However, if this is not possible, scholarships may be awarded to additional eligible applicants from the SUSF universities from which a scholar has already been selected.
-In selecting the annual cohort of scholars, priority will be given to applicants in order to fulfil the aim of representing a range of subject areas.

Applicants should be applying to start a new, one-year, full-time Master’s course at Oxford.

This scholarship is not open to candidates with deferred entry.

Selection Criteria:

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and potential.

Notification:

Successful applicants will be notified in February 2014.

Scholarship Application Method

In order to be considered for this scholarship, you are recommended to submit your application for graduate study by the relevant January deadline for your course (10 January 2014 for Medical Sciences, Philosophy and Computer Science; 24 January 2014 for all other subjects).

Applications by the January deadlines will be prioritised. However, if scholarships are still available, then applications made by the March deadline (14 March 2014) or later (where programmes are still admitting) may also be considered.

A notice will be posted on this web page if scholarships are still available beyond the January deadlines.

There is no separate application process for this scholarship; all eligible applicants who apply to Oxford as outlined above will be considered.

Please note, if any applicants are accepted onto a different course from the one they originally applied for, they should contact us as soon as they are notified of the change in order to ensure that their application for a scholarship is maintained on their new course. A change of course may mean that applicants are no longer eligible for this scholarship.

College preference-All graduate students at the University of Oxford benefit from membership not only of their department, but also of one of our multi-disciplinary colleges. Applicants may select a preferred college as part of their application or leave the allocation of a college to the University.

Applicants are particularly encouraged to consider making Exeter College their preferred college, as this is where the pre-course orientation programme will be held. Specifying any preferred college, or none, will not affect your chances of being offered a place on your course or being awarded a Frost Scholarship.

Scholarship Application Due Date: The application deadline is 10 or 24 January 2014, depending on your course, but later applications may be possible.

If scholarships will remain available, then applications made by the March deadline (14 March 2014) or later (where programmes are still admitting) may also be considered.
