International Students at German Universities. Full scholarship

is open to International Students
are about 60 Scholarships awards are offered and the scholarship
benefits stays for 3 years.
scholarship amounts to 940.00 EUR per month, and is paid for a
maximum of 3 years.
addition to the grant, a monthly standard allowance of 210.00 EUR is
available for material and travel expenses.
Benefits:The child allowance amounts to 200.00 EUR for the first
child and another 150.00 EUR for the second and every further child.
of the child allowance, scholarship holders with children can opt to
have their scholarship extended by a max. of 6 months.
special cases (e.g. birth and the period after birth, child
sickness), scholarship holders with a child to look after can apply
for family leave, during which the DBU scholarship is suspended.
This family leave is limited to a max. of 12 months per child.
dissertation fellowships per year,
young scientists of all disciplines,
advanced research work in the field of environmental protection.
to apply are highly qualified young scientists who work on research
subjects with a clear relation to current environmental issues and
who contribute to solving these issues through their work.
eligible to apply are graduates of higher education institutions
with above average examination results who are no older than 28.
qualified for doctoral studies and with an above-average degree.
selection committee, composed of professors of different
decides on successful candidates twice a year.
have not yet started your doctoral thesis.
institutional support is excluded as also a concentration on a
larger range of topics (pooling of individual applications) without
prior reconciliation with DBU.
and late applications (received after the deadline) can not be
clearly welcome subjects of international importance. The work,
however, has to be done mainly in Germany, with a clear reference to
the German environmental situation.
application must be written in German.
expect good skills of German from foreign applicants to allow their
integration into the DBU scholars' network.
an above-average degree, the chosen topic is expected to be of high
relevance and should contribute to solving problems in environmental
and conservation efforts.
all environmental issues are welcome who meet the above-mentioned
criteria, i.e. in addition to the natural sciences and engineering,
also applications from the social sciences, humanities, economics
topics that support a sustainable development, are especially
complexity of environmental problems requires interdisciplinary
collaboration between different scientific disciplines.
DBU would like to support young researchers with its scholarship
programme with as many different environmental issues and in various
terms of this target range of themes, DBU expects that each
workgroup and/or scientific supervisor submits not more than one
application per selection round.
DBU attaches great importance to a transparent work plan and
timetable, which, together with the tutor's statement, clearly show
that the work can be completed in a period of up to three years.
refusal of an application excludes from further attempts.
