Description:

AWARD is a career-development program that equips top women agricultural scientists across sub-Saharan Africa to accelerate agricultural gains by strengthening their research and leadership skills through tailored fellowships.

AWARD Fellowship is a catalyst for innovations with high potential to contribute to the prosperity and well-being of African smallholder farmers, most of whom are women.

AWARD Fellows benefit from two-year fellowships focused on fostering mentoring partnerships, building science skills, and developing leadership capacity.

Fellows stay in their institutions, continue their research, and travel to AWARD training courses held in various locations in Africa.

Eligibility:

Candidates must meet the following requirements to avail AWARD Fellowship:

Women agricultural scientists who are citizens of Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, or Zambia, who have completed a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree, particularly in the disciplines listed below, are eligible to apply.

There is no age restriction.

Eligibility Criteria:

Fellowships are awarded on the basis of intellectual merit, leadership capacity, and the potential of the scientist’s research to improve the livelihoods of African smallholder farmers, most of whom are women.

Steps to Completing the Application Form

The AWARD Fellowship application form comes in an easy-to-fill Adobe PDF format. You do not need to be connected to the internet to fill out the form. You can download the application form, save it on your computer or storage device, and complete it later, if necessary.

2. Download AWARD Application Documents

Download two documents from the AWARD website:

3. Filling in the Form

Please follow these guidelines to enhance your form completion success.

  •  Fields marked by a red border are required (mandatory). Please fill all of them in before
  • submitting the form.
  •  Use of UPPERCASE is not recommended. Please use proper case (or sentence case) to complete
  • the form.
  •  Please ensure that there are no spaces before or after your entries in the form fields.
  •  Remember to save the form as you work to prevent data losses from unexpected interruptions.

4. Submission

  • Once you have completed filling in your application, ensure that your computer is connected to the internet, and then click the 'submit' button at the end of this form.
  • You will receive a 'submission successful' message on your screen and a confirmation message in your email.
  • AWARD will not accept application forms sent as email attachments. The application deadline is August 9, 2013.
